My wife ordered a 35 tfsi Black Edition in mid January and she collected it yesterday.
She went over the top on the options, but her best choice was to upgrade the alloys.
Her new Q2 replaces her previous Q2 diesel ..... which had issues.

Nice looking Q2. Congrats! :D I have a similar set up with my 1st Edition Q2, albeit mine is diesel. Be careful with kerbing your alloys, mine are super hard to keep unscratched!

Could you let me know what problems you had with your diesel Q2? might be worth considering if they were major...

Issues with her Q2 1.6 tdi s Line were down to the diesel particulate filter constantly blocking up ..... short and long journey and on switching off the engine the fans in the engine bay would just stay on, and stay on, and stay on for about 20 mins ! Audi's response was to drive the car in fourth gear at 3,000 revs to burn off the blocked filter !!
Then there was the issue with the tyre pressure monitoring system .... TPMS. It would constantly, virtually daily say it had a puncture .... despite pressures being correct. Checked under warranty, lost count how many times. Sensors checked, cleaned then replaced and guess what ..... off went the TPMS again. So after two and a half years and only 8,000 miles she had enough and ordered a petrol version.
Now, her Q2 diesel was the first to be delivered to our local dealer and was registered November 2016.

ps .... I got her to take alloy wheel protection insurance ..... allows ten damage claims in three years ( I think )

Cool thanks for the info. The mileage you did in the diesel Q2 defo is way below the norm for Diesel engines. They aren't what they used to be like in the 90s and 2000s. They have to be driven for at least 15k miles a year these days otherwise the enconomical benefits won't be viable. The DPFs also have problems under this mileage like you experienced. DPFs have been law since 2008 I think. Dealer should have advised you against a diesel with less than 4000 miles a year. What you experienced is perfectly normal and wouldn't put it down as a fault.

TPMS is a bit of a weird one! Hope you find the new Q2 better!

Alloy insurance is a good call.

The lack of mileage done in the car was purely down to my wife having lost all confidence in using the car.
The Diesel engine was purchased for trips from the East Coast to the West Coast of Scotland to allow her to visit our grandsons on a regular basis, but with so many failures with the car, and spending lots of times in the garage, more journeys were done in loan cars whilst her car was being "looked" at.......and using my car, otherwise the mileage would have been doubled, if not treble at least.
But, over and done with ...... moving on to enjoy her new purchase.

I priced up the T Roc Sel with the extras I wanted, and yes, it was three thousand pounds cheaper, with even more as standard.
When I purchased my Q2 in November 2016 for delivery March 17, the spare wheel was £100, it is still £100, but you cannot buy it without buying a jack for £25. It is tandard on the T Roc as is so much more.
It's all personal preference, but I didn't like the white band around the seats, and the shiny dash. The debate about hard scratchy plastic will run and run.
I love the progressive steering on my Q2, and the way it handles. There are subtle refinement such as the bonnet gas support strut rather than the usual rod, twin tone horn, and the soft touch dash. T Roc fans will ask how often do you touch it? , but each to their own.
Matt Watson from Car Wow does a really good review of both of them side by side on You Tube, and the Q2 comes out best.

2017 Q2 Glacier White 1.4 TFSI S tropic Manhatton grey blades. Park Assist. Brushed Ali inlays instead of red. Dual zone climate control. Side and rear cross traffic assist. Flat bottom steering wheel. LED lights. Spare wheel. Privacy Glass.

do not misunderstand me , i love my q2 !, unfortunately the vw went on sale few months after
i got my q2 ,
will certainly compare them back to back , when the decision comes around to keep or trade the audi
how much of the q2 is actually a t-roc , apart from the cosmetics ?
i think a lot ! is badge engineering worth 3k ?

That's true,
The level of standard equipment on the T Roc is impressive, and the cost for the same extras are so much cheaper.
I'm thinking that the rear view camera for instance is proberably the same, as they share so many parts.
My latest fad was to think about the new T Cross, as it gives me the extra height I need, (you guessed it - I'm old)
, but I thought I could have a 1.5 engine, but it's not being made available yet.
That said, I had a 1.0 VW Polo and that was ok.
I would miss the prog steering and auto hold electronic handbrake, so will have to think about it nearer the time.

I looked at the T Roc, it is a nice car but personally I was disappointed by the hard plastic dashboard, to me it seemed poor quality on a car of that price especially a VW.

I like your suggestion of "you should have considered a T Roc" ........ well my youngest daughter and my son in law went in to VW in October 2018 and ordered a T Roc SE in completely standard trim bar metallic paint ...... it is now the middle of March 2019 and the Dealer contacted them to say that their order was still with the Factory and was still awaiting a build date ...... potentially the car might, just might be here in September 2019 ........ so I am pleased that my wife decided to change her Q2 for another Q2........and as for my daughter, well she has cancelled her order and bought another Golf Estate from their new car stock.
( and my neighbour in the street ordered a T Roc and waited 10 months for his ..... next door ordered one for his wife and delivery date was mid January, it still has not arrived )

I considered a T-Roc before buying my Edition 1 Q2. I liked it, it was a good package in the R-Line trim but it just didn't stand out for me like the Q2 does. I see a few T-Rocs on the road now and im so glad i chose the Q2. The T-roc just seems to blend in and is just another SUV, nothing special about it. I didnt wnat that whole "husband with kids look" if you know what i mean!! im not at that stage of my life yet!! It had more tech than my Q2 but when sitting in it, but it just didnt feel special. It has to be said that over here in Switzerland, the T-Roc was around 20k cheaper than my Q2. thats why i bought a demo version. A new R-Line, 2.0tsi DSG T-Roc was around 45k swiss francs. My Q2 new was around 62k Swiss francs. Crazy price difference. I think in the UK its a smaller difference.
