Windscreen washer delay on trigger / lagging

Hi everyone, 2 months since my Q2 1.6 TDI delivery and this weird behaviour of the screenwash is bugging me.

Best way to describe - I pull the lever to start washing the windscreen, wipers start running but it takes 2-3 seconds for the fluid to start spraying and when i release the lever it keeps going. When I just tap the lever for a quick spray, it either does nothing or sprays a little with a good 3 secs delay. When I keep the lever pulled it starts spraying with a delay and keeps spraying 3-4 seconds after i release the lever.

The response is laggy, like when you have an old computer, you start typing on the keyboard, it freezes and then after few seconds letters that you typed start appearing on the screen.

This happens all the time.

Not sure if this is normal for Q2 or Audi in overall these days but I have definitely never seen this in my past cars. I'm used to immediate response from the screenwash, like you tap the lever - it sprays immediately, you release the lever - it stops right that millisecond.

Is this happening on your Q2's as well?

If someone could record a short video showing the lever pull and windshield wash action, that would be massively helpful as I plan to go to the dealer and have it checked under the warranty. However I can already see they're just going to return the car back to me and say it's normal and live with it.

Thanks for any input on this :)

This might be because the Q2 has heated washers so it takes a few milliseconds to react? mine are similar but i cant say its any different to the A3 i had before the Q2. Ill check and get back to you. I have noticed that for the rear i need to hold the stalk down for any water and it reacts late, if it just press it down for 1 second then nearly no water comes out. I think i haven't noticed the fronts as i keep it pressed up until the water comes out.

Mine is the same. Very annoying. On our old A3 it was different and worked in the traditional way, i.e. a quick short pull of the wiper stalk gave spraying for the same length of time, and stopped as soon as you let go of the stalk - the wipers go for a few wipes after the spray has stopped, then later do the extra single wipe to deal with the drips running down the screen.

The traditional functionality suited me perfectly. When on a long journey and running low on washer fluid, it is sometimes necessary to conserve the supply and I like to use a very short washer burst WHERE I CHOOSE HOW MUCH is used.

The new Q2 way of working always gives a fixed length burst even for a very short pull of the wiper stalk (2-3 seconds - I haven't timed it) so it's impossible to limit how much fluid is used.

Best regards,
Simon.
