Hello guys
Who can explain how to disassemble the q2's center console?
Thank you so much

Usual method is to start by removing the gear gaiter, then pull up the large part which the gear gaiter and mmi unit is in up and there is likely torx screws under to secure. You will also have to pull the rear section of the centre console off and there will be torx or bolts at the back. I also think there is a torx screw in the side right near the dash

I have ETKA (Audi's parts catalogue) diagram of the parts but cant host as for some reason my photobucket has gone wrong.

I don't suppose anyone knows the part number for the white led backlit 12v power socket in the Q2/A3 do they? I just finished running the power to the rear console and I have a temporary (read: cheap and nasty looking) 12v power socket installed but I would REALLY like to install the nice backlit one (I ran the backlight cable at the same time as the other 2, just need something to connect it to!

I've looked in EKTA and I can SORT of find something. Looks like it comes in 2 parts. the container (with or without backlighting) and the socket itself. The problem is all the sockets "with lighting" are listed as up until 2013 only. The part number from 2013 onwards doesn't list itself as being backlit whether I take the front or rear unit.

Since I am retrofitting this myself I don't care what model it comes from and whether it was intended for the front or the back, as long as it's a flush mount 12V power sock with a white led backlight. But I am struggling to find the right parts!

Any assistance much appreciated.

Thanks

Tony

To remove the gear gaiter you need to pull it upwards, I always start at the long side closest to the gear indication side, pull it inwards then up and it will come out, just work your way around. It is tight but should come out easy enough. To remove the centre piece you want to wrap you need to lift it up from the rear section, again it is tight but its just a push fit. Use a plastic trim tool and slide it under the back edge then pull up. All of the buttons are attached from underneath so you will have to unbolt these to remove everything. The silver gear gaiter trim is clipped in from memory and is a bit fiddly to remove.
