Hi,

Read today in a car magazine about a dealer in York charging a customer what they call a 'provenance' fee. This is a charge to check the history of the part exchange they are putting against a new car. In all the years I've been buying cars, this is a new one on me as the dealer pays this fee before the car is sold to a new owner, never the existing owner of the part exchange car. I guess this is another way along, with the 'administration' fee that has also crept for the dealership to make money.

What? I've also never heard of this either! That's shocking!
I must admit though, I do get pretty flabbergasted at all the figures and terms that flaot about when I buy a new car.
Car Sales people can be super good at their job and I dont class myself as dumb by any matter of means but even I can feel influence by them sometimes. I just hope that at the end of the day I get a decent deal that I can afford and hope for the best ......
