Yes, I went last night and do have some pictures. I'm on my work laptop and as security is part of my job maybe uploading photos to an image sharing site wouldn't be the cutest move so that will have to wait until later.
Was pretty exclusive, there were maybe 70 people there, lots of photographers so I guess Audi are going to milk the PR big time.
In short in the flesh the Q2 is just plain gorgeous, it's long and quite low in visual appearance and yet when you sit inside it you feel fairly high up. The styling for the roof profile accentuates the 'cat about to pounce' stance of the car, everyone, male or female liked it. It has a particular jewel-like air of intense desireability, its really rather special and something Audi are especially good at.
There was just one car, a LHD 2.0 TDI Quattro in Sepang Blue - appeared to be a Sport model (no Sline badges inside or out) was also the two tone colour scheme which actually looks super tasteful because the darker lower colour is metallic grey and high-gloss, fabulous. The rear apron is silver and also high-gloss, exceedingly attractive.
Audi UK had put up the Q2 Product Manager, Chris Battey who confirmed the following (from memory):
1) Order book opens in July, 1st customer deliveries in November
2) There will be 12 colours on launch including new, unique to Q2 orange and grey shades
3) Lots of interior finisher options including one that is LED based and will offer a choice of 10 colours
4) Audi Pre-Sense for detecting objects in the road and collision avoidance will be standard across the range
5) Quattro will be available on launch however only on the 2.0TDI, the 1.4TFSI Quattro and 2.0TFSI Quattro will follow next year (a few people there, myself included were a bit disappointed because the 150 PS COD 1.4 TFSI Quattro is probably going to be the perfect choice)
6) All the in car entertainment/fancy dash displays from the new TT, A4 and Q7 are present in the Q2, I wasn't able to confirm that the centre display was motorised like the current A3. The high-end audio will be B&O and not Bose.
7) A head up display will be an option, the pre-production car there had a blanking plate in the top of the dash cowl
8) The example there had a through-load rear seat
9) The seats will be orderable in a wide range of materials, cloth, alcantara and full leather, the full leather seats can have rather tasteful vertical contrast panels - the car there had light grey inserts and looked really tasteful
10) The boot space is fairly small, like an A1 and not very deep, I wasn't able to check if the boot floor has two heights (like an A1).
I'll post photos later.
One really overriding impression is that Audi have got this one absolutely right, unless they screw the pricing up and make it too expensive its a cetain winner.
