The Q2 is the smallest of Audi's new SUVs. Conceived around an upcoming four-wheel-drive version of the A1's platform, it will go head to head with the Mini Countryman, with a base price of around £18,000 in the UK. Engines will draw on those already found in the A1.

Similar in size to the Nissan Juke - a car that Audi designers admit to having in the design studio as a reference point for their new entry-level SUV - the Q2 will be a sister car to VW's sub-Tiguan SUV.

The reason why Audi couldn't make its baby SUV "Q2" from the start is that Alfa Romeo owns the name (but doesn't use it). A deal between the two may have been struck, as Indian Autos Blog spoke to Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management at AUDI AG for Technical Development, and learned the Q2 will debut in Geneva next March.

The Q2's key features will be unique body styling and a raised ride height for greater ground clearance and a more commanding seating position. So far only a concept version has been revealed to the public (Crossland concept shown above). The production model is set to be toned down slightly, featuring more usual alloy wheel sizes and less dramatic components and trimmings.
