I've noticed my car doors sometimes lock themselves when the car is left but hadn't thought much about it. Unfortunately I ended up with my keys locked in the car. I had left my keys on the front console by mistake, doors were all closed, I then opened a back door to get something else and after I closed the back door all the doors locked. Had to go and get my spare key from hone! Does anyone know why it does this or how this works and if it can be disabled?
I think if you read the manual you'll find its part of the standard locking procedure.
Had the same thing happen to me when I first got my previous car, an A3 saloon, got out of car, locked it.
Came back to get something from rear seat, shut door and heard it 'clunk' locked. Though it, " strange I didn't do that" looked and saw keys on back seat. Had to call the AA to open it as I was miles from anywhere.
It displays on the dash about checking the "the locking" as well.
Since then I have conditioned myself to always take the key out when I get out the car for anything.
