The new Audi Q2 is based on the running gear of a A3, and rolls on wheels spanning between 16-19 inches in diameter.

The petrol lineup will kick off with the familiar 148bhp 1.4 TSI 'Cylinder on Demand' unit, then moves on to the Quattro and auto-only 187bhp 2.0 TFSI. European buyers get a flagship 248bhp 2.0-litre, but that's not confirmed for the UK yet. The diesel range consists of a 115bhp 1.6 and 148bhp 2.0 TDI for now, with Quattro four-wheel drive set to be available across most engines later in the year. All engines now get the option of the latest seven-speed S-Tronic gearbox with a decoupling function.
Some surprising big-car features will be offered on the 2015 Q2, including lane-departure warning, headup display, park assist and even a heated steering wheel.
The Q2 also gets the option of variable damping, with a 10mm lower sports suspension kit available too. All cars get a variable steering ratio, and there's five driving modes including an off-road mode. That raises the ride height to 200mm and adjusts the drivetrain for rough surfaces.
