I was buying a Ford car a few years ago and the salesman tried to talk me into buying GAP, he convinced me it was a good idea, but the cost put me off. I did some research on line and took out my own policy with car2cover.co.uk and found they were alot cheaper. Not having had to claim I cannot comment on how they are with dealing with claims.

I'm in the process of buying a new Audi Q2 and will be buying again, even though it might never be used it is just for piece of mind.

I will by buying gap insurance.

My mum had done the same and found it invaluable when her 18 month old car was written off.

Thanks for the code.

The reason I am not going with the dealer is they only offer 3years cover. I want 5 years cover.

I am getting wheel and bodywork cover with the dealer though.

I have not had the paperwork.

But off the top of my head 3 year wheel and bodywork cover £550.

Quite a few clames each year.will have to check with paperwork when I get it for how many.

So smart repaire for scratches and dents.

That is very good. At £60 a year that's nothing and worth the peace of mind.

Enjouy your new car. I can't wait to get mine.

Great stuff Pejay57. Post some pics when you can.

I am confused whether to go for 3 or 5 years.

Does anyone know if you get breakdown cover with a new car or does it need to be bought separately from rac or aa?
