Petrol v Diesel
Petrol v Diesel
I have had my diesel Q2 for 3 years and have today ordered a petrol model, however, as I was unable to have a test drive due to the Covid19 I would welcome Information from any users who have experienced driving both engines. It is a factory order so have some time to do a bit of research. I have a 1.6tdi and have ordered 3.5tfs subject to being able to test drive one before I take delivery in September. I do not do a high mileage and I am looking at cost and attempting to be a tad greener so I thought I would convert to petrol. I have read comments on here about problems with petrol engine but I have been advised that a modification to rectify this issue has now addressed the problem. Any advice re. both issues would be most welcome.
Re: Petrol v Diesel
I’ve just sold my 1.4 Q2 and replaced it for a 1.5 Q3, zero issues with the engine it’s a really nice drive.
Re: Petrol v Diesel
I've got 35tfsi stronic sline tech pack, comfort and sound pack, reversing camera, driver assist, no issues at all.
Re: Petrol v Diesel
Thank you Loll69 and Keeper for your replies. I have also ordered the Sline with comfort pack and other extras and by the sound of it I’ve made a good choice. Sounds like you are both happy with your cars. Here’s to many miles of safe driving. I’m looking forward to being able to have a test drive when climate permits. If there’s an upside to this pandemic it is the fact that there’s great deals to be had at the moment from Audi.
Re: Petrol v Diesel
The 1.5 new petrol engine suffered with horrendous issues relating to 1st and 2nd gear slow speed take-off. Lots of folk rejected the cars and obtained full refunds as Audi were unable to fix the problems. I bought in March 19 and in October 19 Audi released a fix and no trouble since. I am doing around 44 mpg
Re: Petrol v Diesel
Do you know if it is the same issue on the 1.4 cod engine of slow speed on 1rst 2nd gear? I have the feeling that happens with mine.. in 2 weeks it will go to its 1rst service to Audi, do you think if there is a software update will it be automatically applied while on its service? Thanks
Re: Petrol v Diesel
Had my Q2 1:4 S-line for almost 3 years and 37000 miles later with absolutely no problems.

Re: Petrol v Diesel
Perfect!! Mine is 2 years soon and 9000 really nice engine the 1.4.. what mpg avg hot urs? Mine 40mpg mainly city drive and Saturdays some motorway where it does usually round 46-48 mpg. Soon for its first insp and oils service and changing to a fix schedule..
Re: Petrol v Diesel
Thank you all for your replies and it sounds like most users are happy with their petrol engines particularly since the modifications have taken place. I’ve been happy with my Diesel engine and had absolute no problems with it so hopefully I’ll feel the same with the new engine when I get it.
Re: Petrol v Diesel
When I traded mine the sales guy said at least it’s not diesel so it’s got that going for it
