Quattro feedback

Hi there,

Not a Q2 owner yet, but I'm keeping my eyes out for a lightly used petrol Q2 on the Audi dealer network.

Just wondered if any Quattro owners had any feedback, good or bad, about their ownership experience.

- What made you choose the Quattro over the other models?
- Apart from fuel consumption differences, how do the running costs compare to the other models?
- Am I likely to see more wear on tyres on the Quattro over a FWD, or is it all subjective to driving style?
- Any known issues to look out for?
- If you could start over, what optional extra would you add to your Q2 and which could you not live without?

Cheers - and thanks for everyone that posts on the forum! It's an interesting read!

Mine is 2 years old at 19,000km and still got plenty of tread left on it's first set of tyres, though it wears winter tyres for ~5 months of the year. It hasn't cost me anything other than fuel and insurance yet.

If I was in the UK i'm not sure i would bother with Quattro. The only time I've ever noticed it is in the thick snow and ice you get around these parts.

MMI Plus + Connect is the one must have imo.

If you need any help with insurance at all for any model you're looking at then please feel free to drop me a line.

100% would spec Quattro again but then again i live in Switzerlnad so i need it due to the snow and ice we get here. Tire usage, iv not seen any different to my previous front wheel drive A3. If you live in the UK im not so sure you need it. It is super though. you can really feel the extra grunt pushing you front the rear sometimes.

I would spec the VC and tech pack. Also, pick the extended trim or leather, whatever its called. It makes the Q2 interior alot nicer place to be, especially as most reviews complain about this. Interior lighting pack is good too as it adds LED and mood lights.

Choose the S-Line too with exterior LED lights. The Q2 is really a nice car to have but it is so sensitive to trim spec. I feel it looks very basic in SE or Sport trim and i personally would ever buy one of those trim models. Its just alot of cash to spend on a car that looks dated. The S-Line adds so many touches that inproves its looks.

Hi Richard
Ive had 5 Audis with Quattro and 3 without.
Currently got an SQ2 .(Phenomenal piece of kit)
I would always go for the Quattro just for the reassurance you get
in any bad weather.
The grip is phenomenal particularly when pulling away.
I have never had bad tyre wear on any Audi and very few warranty issues.
My only complaint in the UK is the cost of Servicing which is a joke to be frank.
If I was recommending options go for the Tech pack and Leather.
Forget the premium HiFi its a waste of money and the light coloured leather marks easily.

Hi all,

Thank you very much for all the feedback, it's really useful. I do have a couple of follow-up questions:

Do you know whether the latest engines (marked as "TFSI 300 PS" versus "2.0 TFSI 190 PS") suffer from the same issues as the updated 35 1.5 litre engines? (viewtopic.php?f=8&p=4908#p4908) I can only find references to the 1.5 having problems.

In terms of boot space, does the quattro reduce space at all? Can you get a spare wheel / spacesaver with the Quattro?

Does the Quattro require anything extra at service time above a FWD S Tronic?

Perhaps one for Dan or anyone else about Insurance and Extras. Most insurance websites ask you whether there are any extras fitted. Clicking on a sample Q2 I found one which had:

Audi Virtual Cockpit
Bang & Olufsend Sound System (Dave - I note your comment about the premium hifi not being worth it, this was just an example)
Driver Assistance Pack
Head-up Display
Privacy Glass
19" Alloy wheels if gloss diamond finish
Fine Nappa leather

I would guess most of these are factory fitted, but do I still need to go ahead and individually list them on the form? Is there no way for them to 'slurp' the data in based on the car registration/DVLA information?

Sounds like a good car!
Re Quattro it does not affect boot space.
If you want a spare you cannot have premium HIFI and if you want a dealer supplied spare rather than from new the Audi price is a joke.(4 times the cost)
Its cheaper to stand a new tyre and recovery .
Can't comment on engines I've got the SQ2 with the S3 engine which is biblical.
Re insurance if they are factory fitted options they do not care and that list looks like OE to me so i would say no to the insurance question.
They are not expensive to insure my SQ2 is through RAC and is as cheap as chips. Admittedly I am a bit on the old side with lots of NCD etc.
