Q2 number 2

Post by Ruskie » Tue Mar 30, 2021 8:24 pm

Hi,

I've just bought a 70 plate Q2 1.6 TDI Sport S-Tronic after having had a the 1.6 TDI S-Line S-Tronic as a company car for the last 2 years and would like to put nicer alloys on it. I could do with some advice.

1. Should I put 19" or 20" wheels on it? Does anyone use 20" on theirs and does it spoil the ride?

2. Do I need to have TMPS Valves and sensors fitted in the new alloys or can I run without them?

Your comment would be appreciated

Not sure 20s exist as genuine Audi wheels for the Q2. I have the 19inch rotors which are standard on the 1st Edition. Bit bumpy but its the S-Line so probs harder suspension.

No OEM 20" option for the Q2

However I have ran 19", 20" and 21" on my Q2. I didn't think it spoilt the ride but my car isn't standard and I am used to a firm ride.

No need for TPMS valves is its calculated via speed sensor on the bud on the Q2.

I guess the OP wil have to get that calibrated then right as if not his speedo will be off.

All depends on how close the rolling radius is between the original and aftermarket wheels are, but to be honest its not going to be far enough out to worry about recalibrating the speedo.....if its even possible to do. It wont have an impact on the TPMS though.

The system is fairly basic, it isn't particularly sensitive from personal experience and takes a fairly big drop in PSI for the system to notice 5-10PSI easy.

Audi's wheel sensors are way more sensitive than the ABS bases version.

Thank you for the feedback, I think I'll go for the 19's as there are more non OEM options anyway.
