Start/stop problem Q2 sport

Post by Chloe_ » Wed Sep 11, 2019 10:26 pm

I have a q2 sport and it's a pain in the ass! Every so often when slowing down coming to junction or turning, the engine will shut off and a message will pop up saying "start/stop deactivated please turn on engine manually" and I have to restart engine. Sometimes it will just turn on and I can keep driving other times itll fully conk out and takes a few times to restart. I know how stop/start works- it activates when your at a complete stop- but this happens while the car is moving and has happened at 30 mph... taken back to audi and they said they cant find any faults? Any ideas guys, I dont feel safe driving it but audi arent listening?

Ouch, that doesn't sound good. Start stop actually engages at around 5km and below but if its happening at 30mph then thats not good. I would insist on Audi getting it checked or fixed. What engine do you have? plenty of reports of the 1.5 petrol engine cutting out and so on....

They checked it out, took it for a test drive and found nothing- bloody typical! So they said theres nothing they could do. Yeah it's a 1.5 diesel

You can buy a module that stops it working all together.....not really getting to the cause of the problem but at least it wont keep cutting out like it has been.

If you want to cancel the start/stop module then you are best off getting Carista from Amazon. It comes with a 1month trial so you can fiddle around with the other options too. VAG car coding as super good and offer amazing services, but I would go with something like Carista that you can have lying around so you can activate or disable when needed.

That doesn't sound good and i would be refusing to take it away until they fix it. Does the button on the dash to switch it off not work?

I don't like the fact it activates when moving at all as the steering lock comes on with it.

I have had my Q2 Sport 30 TFSI Auto in the workshop for the same Start/Stop Activation (SSA) issue. Audi just keep saying it is working as it should. I asked for the parameters under which SSA acivates. When I gave them a list showing how my Q2 activated outside of the given parameters. I was then told 2019 Q2s have the new Generation SSA and the parameters I was given dont apply. ( Just moved the goal posts). I think SSA is a good idea but it just doesnt work on my Q2. I am now looking at Carista just to kill SSA.
